Adulthood & Aging

Hey, let's face it, you will be 'old' a lot longer than you're young. In preparation for your adult years, and for aging we will start with a questionnaire to determine how long you can hope to live. Take a few minutes to do this. When you have finished be able to answer these questions:
  1. How do you think they arrive at this list of questions to determine your longevity?
  2. What do these questions tell you in terms of what is needed in living a long life?
  3. Do you think you would live longer if you lived in another part of the world, say, Canada or Sweden? Go back to the questionnaire to see what might happen. Why do you think this is so.
Go here (it's one of many such website dedicated to the eternal question, "How long will I live?")

Essential question: To what extent will aging for you be the same as what it is for your parents?

In consideration of the essential question, you should view this video of a lecture by a cellular biologist, Aubrey de Grey (see Wikipedia for a general idea of who he is and his work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrey_de_Grey). How would he answer the question, 'Is aging like a disease that we might find a cure for one day?"
